Celebrating 50 Years of Praising God And Spreading the Gospel Through Song!

Gospel Choirs United (GCU) is a gospel music Icon in Minnesota.

In 1974, Sam Davis with Zion Baptist Church’s Inspirational Choir and Phyllis Williams with Sabathani Baptist Church’s Pastor’s Chorus, joined together to form a new choir.

In 1976, Carl Walker and the Mount Olivet Celestial Choir joined them to form what was then called “Gospel Choirs Unlimited,” with the belief that an unlimited number of choirs would eventually be invited to join in. In 1980, Vera Jean Jenkins with North Central’s Angelic Choir, and Donnell Smith with New Hope’s Adult Choir, united musical minds to make the perfect union of what became known as Gospel Choirs United (GCU).
 

Over its 50-year history, the choir has electrified audiences with an unforgettable upbeat sound. Annual concerts are filled with traditional, contemporary and mainstream gospel selections that capture the essence of God's goodness. GCU sang before sold-out audiences, from the local church to the Fitzgerald and Ordway Theaters. GCU also featured many national recording artists in concert; such as Steven Roberts, Kathy Taylor, Jeffrey LaValley, and many others.
